Genesis Prime is planetary simulation prototype that allows players to create, observe, and influence dynamic alien worlds. From volcanic hellscapes to icy wastelands, each planet is a living system that evolves over time, providing a mix of breathtaking visuals, scientific intrigue, and emergent gameplay.

The game is actually only a prototype, and I upload it to have some feedback about bugs and gameplay (for now gameplay is just passive: you can not actively change anything in game, just watch how events change the shape of the planet)

The addition of xeno life forms is planned for future updates, adding even more depth to the simulation.

The game is based on real or hypothetical planet and exoplanets (like volcanics protoplanets, icy planet like Europa,  etc)

Core Mechanics

Planet Types

Players can generate and customize a variety of planet types, each with unique visual and mechanical properties:

  1. Volcanic Planets
    • Features: Lava seas, towering eruptions, and scorched terrains.
    • Key Events: Volcanic eruptions, sulfur-rich atmospheres, frequent ash storms.
  2. Oceanic Worlds
    • Features: Endless oceans, scattered archipelagos, and deep trenches.
    • Key Events: Tropical storms, submarine volcanic eruptions and geothermal vent.
  3. Icy Planets
    • Features: Frozen plains, towering glaciers, and icy lakes.
    • Key Events: Ice fractures, subglacial volcanic activity and cryovolcanic activity.
  4. Desertic Planets
    • Features: Barren dunes, rocky craters, and vast, arid landscapes.
    • Key Events: Sandstorms, meteorite impacts.

Dynamic Weather and Geological Events

The game features a robust event system that breathes life into every planet.

  1. Local Events (Frequent, Regional)
    • Volcanic eruptions creating new landmasses.
    • Sandstorms reshaping dunes and visibility.
    • Meteorite impacts leaving craters and introducing new minerals.
    • Geothermal vents emitting steam and altering the atmosphere.
    • Tropical storms intensifying the ocean's currents.
  2. Global Events (Rare, Planet-Wide)
    • Global Glaciation: Planetary cooling encasing oceans and surfaces in ice.
    • Heat Waves: Planet-wide warming causing ice melt and increased volcanic activity.
    • Long-term chemical composition shifts, modify the biomes types.

Multiple Visualization Layers

Players can observe their planets in real-time using various overlays:

  • Biomes: Detailed views of terrain and ecosystem distribution.
  • Temperature: Heat maps showing surface and atmospheric temperatures.
  • Elevation: 2D topographical representation of the planet’s surface.
  • Active Events: Highlight ongoing events like storms, eruptions, and impacts.

Real-Time Planet Evolution

Planets dynamically evolve in response to environmental events:

  • Temperature Changes: Triggered by volcanic eruptions, meteor impacts, and global climate events.
  • Chemical Composition Shifts: Atmospheric changes due to geothermal vents or meteorite materials.
  • Terrain Modifications: Erosions from storms, ice fracturing, and lava flows altering surface features.

Planned Features

Xeno Life Forms

  • Introduction: Players will eventually be able to introduce and study alien life adapted to different planetary environments.
  • Mechanics: Life forms will respond dynamically to local and global events, evolving based on planetary conditions.

Gameplay Goals

Players are encouraged to:

  • Experiment with different planetary types and events.
  • Observe and understand the interplay of weather, geology, and evolution.
  • Shape planetary environments and plan for introducing alien ecosystems.
